Welcome to this weeks Crowdleaf  Newsletter!

Lets start with the depressing same old line we at Crowdleaf hear all too often.

‘unless everyone thinks or acts responsibly with what they do with their waste, whats the point as there will always be a problem?’ (honestly I have heard this). My reply is: ‘Think of it like a ripple effect, once one makes a change and sets a good example, others start to think then act. This is thinking about our children too and setting good life lessons for them to follow’.

Will you be an a person to follow or a person who follows?

If everyone had this attitude, not only will the ocean be empty of sea life replaced by pollution, we will be swimming in our own rubbish in no time so a big massive thank you goes out to all who are working so hard for the welfare of the planet because it does go a long way to make it a better place.

In 1 week, we have our CrowdLeaf Litter Picking event at Southampton Common so please keep a space in the diary and meets us down there!

We have a great guest article and infographic about why straws are bad for the environment so a big thank you Hugh for taking the time to create this piece.

We are still looking to organise a regular Plogging event so anyone who is interested please contact us and we will arrange a date for this to start.

Also listen out for CrowdLeaf’s Ryan Carter on Voice FM Radio 103.9 on Thursday 6th April.

For anyone who would like their event or article on our weekly newsletter please contact us.

Hope you all have a great week!

Ps. Lots of events happening this month so please check them out in the Events section! 🙂

Plastic straws are everywhere. They come with soft drinks, juice boxes, and are even available at many restaurants. Each day, we use straws, largely without even noticing them. It is for this reason that seemingly small and negligible plastic straws have become so damaging to the environment.

This infographic by Get Green Now helps to illustrate the damaging effects of a single plastic straw on the environment. It also displays interesting facts to help make it easier to understand the sheer severity of the global plastic problem.

This brilliant website gives tips and ideas about food waste and how to reduce it.

Love Food Hate Waste

Instead of throwing out or bagging up (to gather dust) all those clothes children quickly grow out of this is a brilliant website to buy or sell unwanted children clothes. It is run by a busy mum who also knows what it’s like with ever growing children and the endless amount of clothes children accumulate.

‘Last year a quarter of the clothing we got rid of was simply thrown away. That’s a staggering 300,000 tonnes that went into landfill. So many of those items could have been re-used and enjoyed by a another child, instead of contributing to the destruction of the planet.’
