CrowdLeaf Newsletter 31st January 2019

Hello and welcome to another CrowdLeaf newsletter.

We hope you are still keeping your new years resolutions so far this year! How many of you took the pledge to go vegan for Veganuary? How many of you will stick to it longer term? How amazing is it that there is a tasty alternative to most of our favourites these days guilt free of harming animals in any way?! We think that  it is a great achievement to help people make the change even if it is just cutting out some meat or dairy.

As the weather seems to be turning colder please leave food out for wildlife that will still be foraging for food. Also, check up on anyone you know who maybe vulnerable that may require some assistance if the weather becomes too bad. Bringing back some community spirit đŸ™‚

This brilliant website gives tips and ideas about food waste and how to reduce it.

Love Food Hate Waste

Instead of throwing out or bagging up (to gather dust) all those clothes children quickly grow out of this is a brilliant website to buy or sell unwanted children clothes. It is run by a busy mum who also knows what it’s like with ever growing children and the endless amount of clothes children accumulate.

‘Last year a quarter of the clothing we got rid of was simply thrown away. That’s a staggering 300,000 tonnes that went into landfill. So many of those items could have been re-used and enjoyed by a another child, instead of contributing to the destruction of the planet.’

CrowdLeaf Newsletter 23rd May 2018

Hello and welcome to CrowdLeaf’s newsletter.

As you may have heard data protection laws are changing on 25th May so you will need to let us know if you would like to continue receiving our weekly newsletters. Some of you will have received an email from us but if you haven’t and you would like to, please drop us an email or message. Thank you all for your support for our shared and joint cause! đŸ™‚

Ryan has been spending some time in Amsterdam, this is what he had to say:

‘It’s great to see all the great advances so obviously unique but so startlingly obvious. Everywhere you turn there is Tesla taxis, solar boats on their pristine rivers. In shops and hotels there arr environmentally aware products, CO2 aware menus and the very unique situation of bicycles peppered in every road and corner. It’s been hearenting to see the novel idea of car share schemes just popping up all over the City. What more can I say, it’s so green and clean here, frankly the UK could learn a lot’

Some great conservation success stories – always good to see some of the good we can do!

Do you have an event or an article you would like to see published on our newsletter? Please contact myself (Vicky) or Ryan to see if we can help!

CrowdLeaf Newsletter 17th May 2018

Hello and Welcome to CrowdLeaf’s Newsletter!

A big thank you to Ryan who took over for last weeks newsletter while I was on holiday! đŸ™‚

While away, we went to Paignton Zoo and was so pleased to see them providing biodegradable and compostable take away coffee cups – there really should be more of a push for other coffee and take away chains to provide these!

I also wanted to share this beauty who lived outside our from door for a couple of days – it looks like a male Lime Hawk Moth. I’m no expert on moths or their biggest fans but not even I can deny how handsome he is! (Please feel free to correct me if I have identified him wrong.)

If anyone would like their articles or events published on our weekly newsletter then please email us and let us know!

Guest Piece

We have a great guest piece by Eco Collective – a vegan supermarket for good that has a great range and price for their products.

Another great guest piece regarding the pressing issue of Air Pollution and Clean Air Day 2018 by Larissa Lockwood, Head Of Health at Action Global Plan:

Combination of Cold Starts And Short Journeys Are A major Barrier To Air Pollution Improvements.

We also have a great charity event – Brave New Southampton: Variety Show Shindig! on Friday 18th May for anyone interested in a better, cleaner and greener Southampton. So come and join in!
